In Greene County district court Bille Gaye Kucharo, 55, of Des Moines was sentenced to two days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense. She may complete a 48-hour Weekend Offender program in lieu of serving jail time. She must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation that has already been done, and she must also complete a community college drinking driver’s school. She was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 drug abuse resistance education (DARE) surcharge. Jacob Benjamin Brown, 24, of Harlan was sentenced to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of OWI-second offense. All but seven days of the prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation that has already been done, and he must also complete a community college drinking driver’s school. He must pay a sheriff’s fee for the jail time he serves, as well as a $1,875 fine with a $626.25 surcharge and a $10 DARE surcharge. Steven A. Musser, 41, of Boone was sentenced to two years in prison on a charge of driving while license barred. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. Musser was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Kester)
Blaine Mathew Stockwell, 31, of Laurens was sentenced to 365 days in jail on a charge of eluding. The jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. He was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge and restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees to be determined. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Kester)
A charge of OWI-first offense against Megan Marie McCormick, 28, of Jefferson was dismissed Jan. 22. The minutes of evidence failed to state the results of field sobriety tests and the defendant had refused to take a breath test. There was no proof the defendant was guilty beyond reasonable doubt, according to court documents. (Kester)
Charges against Kevin Eugene Miller, 52, of Massena of possession of marijuana-second offense and possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed Jan. 22 “in the interest of justice.” County attorney Nicola Martino filed the motion to dismiss. (Kester)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Richard Dean Tuhn Jr, 37, of Grand Junction, possession of a firearm as a felon; and Zakkariah Dylan-Levi Boudewyn, 23, of Jefferson, assault on persons in certain occupations/use or display dangerous weapon, assault on persons in certain occupation/bodily injury, interference with official acts/dangerous weapon, and disarming a peace officer. Trial dates were set for April 5.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Chad Christopher Louk, 40, of Jefferson, criminal mischief-fourth degree hate crime; Nicholas Anthony Balderas, 24, of Bagley, domestic abuse assault-second offense; Sergio Patino, 31, of Commerce City, CO, possession of marijuana-first offense; and Alex Duncan Dankel, 22, of Scranton, assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant Feb. 9 that Brianne Kara Aguilar-Flores Wolf, 25, of Grand Junction has been charged with possession of methamphetamine. The warrant was issued in April 2013.
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant Feb. 13 that Luas Ross Kelsey, 33, of Des Moines has been charged with fraudulent practices-second degree. The warrant was issued July 15.
